One of the great man from history, a great physicist and mathematician, Sir Issac Newton, lived a life fully incredible, plied up with some dubious incidents. We are all aware of Newton's great discoveries such as Law of Universal Gravitation, Infinitesimal Calculus, Newton's Law of Motion. With his inventions, he had given the world great discoveries which play prominent part in the field of Science and Maths.
On the death anniversary of Isaac Newton (31st March), let us explore some facts about his discoveries and personality today to take a little closer look on his work life journey and personal experiences. In this article, you will get to know some surprising facts about Newton as well.
1. While Newton was at Cambridge university, he learned about exposures by great philosopher Aristotle. He discovered the works of Plato, Descartes, Astronomer Galileo, and Kepler as well. He had gained knowledge on Physics & Mathematics having studied the findings by them. After graduating in 1665 from the university, Newton initiated building a Mathematical theory which is today known as Calculus. The credit for invention of calculus has been given to both Newton & Wilhelm Leibniz. Newton formed his theories on Law of Gravitation and Optics during the time as well.
2. Having learned about Aristotle's idea over color, Newton discovered his theory of color after making a number of experiments on light and analysed its behavior for the color formation. He also invented first reflective telescope. His findings on light later had been added to his book named "Opticks" where he had shown about the behavior of white light while passed through a prism scatters into different color (color of visible spectrum) and how different colors are formed from light. This discovery was something completely surprising to the science than what was known that time.
3. The third and the most famous, Law of Universal Gravitation, when discovered by Newton, tuned out to bring a spotted remark for the understanding of gravity in the universe as compared to previously explored facts on the same. It gave the world an outbreak of presence of gravitation not only to the earth but in the universe. The theory describes that each object present in the universe has an attraction toward every other object with some force as given below.
F = G× M1×M2/r*r
The law is very popular in the science and is popular for measuring gravitation even today.
4. Keeping aside his scientific inventions, Newton spent a long time on Alchemy. Alchemy was a process that could transform base metals into gold as defined in the 17th century time. It was believed to be accounted into chemistry by some people whereas a kind of magic by others. That is something interests people more into Newton's life. He prepared a bunch of theories while pursuing alchemy for years. Newton kept this experiment and its theories as a secret from outside world which was discovered later after years of his death.
5. Newton in his lifetime, took a pretty interest in bible. It is said that Newton had studied Bible carefully from a young age only and he believed the existence of God as a great power behind nature. He studied different versions of bible to understand from its depth in order to grasp the hidden scientific indications in it. He prepared theories on these tracts for a long time it but many of them could not be published. The work over the long period of time for analysing the Bible and presence of God reveals the secretive and curious nature of Newton that not only he was an explorer in the Science & Maths, but also on how natural spects and super power works.
