It’s last month of this year now. We headed to December, a month when we will encounter posts, videos and reels on new year plans and resolutions all over the social media. Our feeds are going to be blocked by such suggestions videos and articles about how to do this and that soon.

While the start of new year resolutions are warm and one of the most trending matters of discussion everywhere, what did you end up doing whole year is something equally important but way too underrated. We don’t listen much same way on the end of resolutions or how did started plan end up in the year end.

This article is going to focus on the status of the year’s work to equally attribute the importance of goals and its execution till the end because after all that was the ultimate goal for why resolution was started in the first place. That is the reaching the finish line of your goals. Like many people out there, I set some goals too in the beginning of this year with a vision to make myself ready for my eventual plans. Now, just one more month is left in this year, and I think I have managed to keep everything in place for all my resolutions.

While the pursuit of goals are not easy to anyone, what I did was more of a experimental actions as I never did something in very disciplined way for a long time like an year. Keeping regular update in the tasks for goals and reviewing it frequently is what I figured out is a big achievement itself even when there is no financial rewards for it.

Let’s take a short tour of my journey of these eleven months of 2023 which can help some people in accomplishing their own goals in the coming year. Sharing is what after all help keep us all motivated and inspired. I have highlighted five root strategies in this article that will help you understand what are the most effective steps you can take while working on your goals.

1. Making goals is not a big thing, aligning it to your heart is what matters!

A very simple yet significant strategy! Anybody can plan or make goals very easily, but what drives that goal within you is the main essence. You will probably get inspired by watching anything trending on internet and decide to start doing it. But whenever you are taking such decisions for goals, checking on whether the goal aligns with your heart or not is a essential step to take. Basically what I mean here is whatever goal you are going to pursue, should be fulfilling either you or some of your desires  that are personal to you.

If you find out the goal really can accomplish something you really wish to achieve personally, it is aligned to your heart otherwise you may review your decision. Why this hold supremacy because unlike short term achievements, long ones require you to have patience, consistency and hard work amid uncertainties that comes your way. If you are working for something intrinsic to you and is not from sudden external influences, you will more likely to handle it and maintain sustainability. Whereas otherwise, not only the goal may become hard to handle amid uncertainties but after little success and accomplishment, you may loose interest and motivation as the actual desire never existed in first place and so there is no enough fulfilment from it.

When you love things you do, you do it less and live it more. Each effort put on is more of expressing compassion which lets you enjoy doing it and there will always be excitement to learn more and be consistent even without rewards. You love to be known for it more than to be surviving by it.

2. Start with smaller achievable tasks instead of big ones!

This is another impactful step lets you achieve your goals easily. Climbing mountain at once is a thing for some expert and not for a beginner or intermediate. And understanding it is other thing many people fail at. Or more specifically, implementing it is something people don’t do. Even if you want to do huge things, it is preferable to start with small steps that are doable.

Specially if you are starting fresh, always set small tasks initially that can be completed easily. Success on those tasks will keep you motivated and pursue with comparatively bigger tasks gradually. On the other hand with setting big steps directly for the goals when you don’t know much on initial stage can lead to halt in the process at start only as there is less surety of completion. You may be off focus too as a result of more issues in the beginning only.

An example will go like if you don’t know much about writing and trying to write a script for a youtube blog, a good approach shall follow

Step1: First watch some blogging videos.
Step2: Create a simple blog story.
Step3: Write few lines per day until finished.

Rather than:

Step1: Research and create a mind blowing, long blog story full of creative events.
Step2: Finish it in a day by writing whole day.

The second approach is suited for ones pretty good at writing but not necessarily for someone doesn’t know much about it. So first one is a achievable and good to go step for such people. Many people don’t like to go with this way because they wish instant demanding value and approval of people and this desire often prevents them from starting with small things because its of no value for them. If you are trying to work on a goal, be patient enough, believe in yourself and start with smaller tasks. It is fine to move slowly than no movement at all.

3. Work to create, not to earn!

No surprise if you have a shocking reaction now. You must be filled with a thought like if no money then why would you do it in the first place? After all, money is the ultimate reason why you invest time and do things you get paid for. Well, there is nothing wrong with this mindset. You do need money for survival.

But mind you, when you are pursuing on a goal that eventually lets you make lot of money, does mean you eventually deliver something high in demand. Because without demand, there is no product and hence no users and delivering anything like that to public amid huge competitive market is a skilled art requires nourishment with hard work, smart work and technology. As expected, will take pretty time to learn and grasp before you can make money from the product made with the same skills.

And if you understand it well, earning falls under the later stage scenario for any goal you are targeting. It can be the final reward and not the first or second perspective of the goal. Working for money therefore is not a good to go thing when you are starting on a goal. There is a long journey before you reach there which consists 80-90% of the part like figuring out, learning, exploring, making mistakes, correcting it, consistent work, engaging with people, marketing and much more. The humbleness should be toward the process and not making money. This is why I believe you should work for creating and not for earning in the first place.

4. Be consistent even when you see no progress!

Tough times do come for everything and so do for goals. There will be days you may not feel motivated to work or any way out when you’re stuck at something for a long time. Just like something when you are downloading gets stop at the same place and you keep on waiting for it to progress. Same cases arise for some phases of your goals as well. You will try your best to find a solution or figure it out or to even understand the problems in the first place

And these events are natural and every one who tries to do something faces. These are the times when your patience, contributions and consistency will be tested. Some do continue even under such situations where others tend to stop in between. The phase is very uncertain sometimes that it takes enough time to pass on. That’s why being patient is very important to achieve anything. People can be extremely talented and smart but with patience only such situations can be dealt.

But the great thing is that consistency can lead you to anywhere. If you work on goals for real fulfilments which is beyond material things only, such problems are not going to impact you more. Just keep up with whatever you can and let things happen on their time.

5. Believe in yourself!

A last important strategy to help you always. Whatever you do, there is a hope behind that drives you through the way. While your goals are huge and not easy, always take a moment to look at your efforts and magic you have created while working on it. This is not only important for your good feedback but also a strength that holds you in erratic times when situations are fluctuating.

Problems will keep coming but what matters in the end is the hope that keeps you step forward every time. What you can reward yourself with is belief that you are going to get it anyway. Trust yourself always, look at the progress you have made, things you have discovered and problems you have overcome so far. It’s a good source of motivation too.

Once you believe that the plan you have made will be executed successfully in the end and just continue with your own stuff no matter what, you grow immensely. There is no fear, no shame, just work with complete trust. And that is enough to keep you focused to get you anywhere you want to be.
